Jonathan Shell Will Defend KY Farmers from Joe Biden’s IRS

LANCASTER, Ky. (August 24, 2022)Jonathan Shell, Republican candidate for Kentucky Agriculture Commissioner, released the following statement today regarding Washington Democrats’ billions in new funding for IRS enforcement:

“At a time when Democrats in Washington should be focusing on historic inflation and rising prices, Joe Biden and his allies instead spent billions to hire 87,000 new IRS agents. Kentucky farm families want leaders to tackle our biggest problems, not deploy an army of auditors to harass everyday taxpayers just trying to make ends meet.

“It’s already hard enough to make a profit as a farmer. Small Kentucky producers can’t hire blue-chip accountants and big law firms to fend off the IRS. They’re experts in growing food, not dealing with out-of-control government bureaucracy.

“As Kentucky’s next Commissioner of Agriculture, I promise to fight back on unnecessary, partisan IRS intrusion. I’ll work on innovative proposals, like an IRS Harassment Hotline at the Department of Agriculture, to make sure government bureaucracy doesn’t hurt Kentucky farmers as they work to feed the world. With our conservative leaders in the General Assembly, I’ll do all I can to protect Kentucky farmers and families from the massive Biden IRS.”
